First Wins Dot Landscape During Majors at High Plains

DEER TRAIL, Colo. (July 5, 2015) – First SCCA Majors wins and hard fought victories by veterans set the scene on Sunday at High Plains Raceway, Round 10 of the Mid-States Conference Championship.

18-year-old Mianna Wick earned her first career win following a back and forth battle in the Formula Mazda class. Wick drove her No. 46 Loophole Racing Formula Mazda around Saturday winner Larry Howard’s No. 50 Epic Electric Service Corp. Formula Mazda near the mid-point of the race, then put her foot down to win going away.

The day ended with the first career Majors win for Brad Gross. Gross took advantage of an early end of the day for Saturday winner Jim Valdez, and kept his No. 13 Hoosier Tires/Renishaw Chevrolet Monte Carlo in front to the finish.

Jason Ott, no stranger to Majors racing or the top step of the podium in SCCA, fought hard for a Touring 3 and overall win in the group. Ott weaved his No. 09 Hoosier Tire/Bimmerhaus/Alpine Motorsports BMW Z4 in and around traffic, and even through the dirt, chasing the No. 8 Hoosier Tire Nissan 350Z of Bob Schader. Ott kept the pressure on Schader until he found an opening, moving through and to the checkered flag.

The Mid-States Conference finale runs July 25-26 at Pueblo Motorsports Park for a doubleheader weekend. Results from High Plains can be found at SCCA.com/highplainsmajors.
