Storylines/Things to Watch:
Second California Visit – The Hoosier Racing Tire SCCA® Super Tour makes its second and final visit to The Golden State April 29-30 at Buttonwillow Raceway Park, located in California’s Central Valley between Los Angeles and San Francisco. The venue actually has multiple course configurations that can be run both clockwise and counterclockwise. The Hoosier Super Tour event, hosted by Cal Club, will be held on Buttonwillow’s configuration 25CW (clockwise). The course features turns such as Grapevine, Riverside, Sunset and Phil Hill.
Defending Runoffs Champions -- A quick glance at the Hoosier Super Tour Buttonwillow entry list shows a number of defending Runoffs® champions plan to be on track over the weekend. Brian Linn, the 2016 H Production national champion and President’s Cup recipient, should be on hand, as well as Prototype 1 champion Jim Devenport, Touring 4 champion Oscar Jackson, and Spec Racer Ford Gen3 champ John Black.
Wonderful Workers -- A platoon of SCCA workers from throughout California and neighboring states will be at Buttonwillow Raceway Park both Saturday and Sunday to make this Hoosier Super Tour event a reality. SCCA is a membership organization and, as such, utilizes volunteers to put on events. These people organize, register, score, officiate and work flag stations during race weekends. No event is possible without the help of selfless volunteers.
Spring in California – Drivers, crew, volunteers and spectators should be aware that this weekend could be a bit toasty at Buttonwillow Raceway Park for the Hoosier Super Tour. Clear, sunny skies are forecast throughout the weekend with temperatures in the high 80s and perhaps even 90 degrees. Humidity will be relatively low in the 20 percent range with winds topping out at around 10 mph. Having lots of water, sunscreen and perhaps a hat for protection would be advisable.
