Receiving its SCCA charter in 1949, the Ohio Valley Region (OVR) has a long history with Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and more than 60 years of experience organizing exciting motorsports activities for enthusiasts around Ohio. Whether you are into timed precision driving, wheel-to-wheel hardcore racing, or even participating in track side assistance, administration or creative opportunities, OVR is a great way to satisfy a need for speed!
Getting a start in racing can be easy, and OVR is here to help. Region members have a wealth of information to share and can guide newbies to a better understating of different motorsport events and experiences available. Of course, the Region also hosts “socializers” during the year where people gather to talk about their adventures while having fun with cars. Back in the 1980s, some of those meetings where held at Jim Trueman’s Red Roof Inn corporate office and included guest speakers such as Bobby Rahal and Scott Pruett. These events are a great way to immerse yourself into a welcoming community of friendly motorsport fanatics willing to answer any questions you might have about auto racing.
To this day, OVR still organizes autocrosses, road races, rallies and performance driving events throughout the year. For those interested in the operational side of motorsports, the organization also offers training and volunteer opportunities where people can get up close to the action. Check out the Ohio Valley Region website to learn more and scope out some upcoming events.
This is the fourth year in a row that OVR has hosted a Hoosier Super Tour stop at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Unfortunately, this weekend’s Hoosier Super Tour at Mid-Ohio is a non-spectator event. But race fans can still follow all the action online with live Timing & Scoring, video cameras and Super Tour Radio presented by Hoosier Racing Tire at www.scca.com/live.
