Sporting roughly 100,000 live video stream views during the Sept. 29-Oct. 1, 2023, race weekend at VIRginia International Raceway, the 2023 SCCA® National Championship Runoffs® was a success in so many ways. For one, it was the first time in 60 years of the Runoffs where more champions were crowned than there were races. That’s right – one of this year’s Runoffs races ended in an unbelievable dead-heat tie. But that was only the beginning, as there was also an incredible race that saw a racer spin from the front to the back, then charge through the field to win by more than 30 seconds. There was a father-and-son top-two finish – and the same again with brothers. And now, each of these 23 races are available for easy on-demand viewing in the comfort of your home – or, come to think of it, anywhere with an internet connection.

Debuting on SCCA’s YouTube channel today are all 23 Runoffs races ready to stream for free. Add up the on-track time and you’ll arrive at nearly 14 hours of the best amateur racing in the country brought to you in a TV-quality broadcast with pro announcers Greg Creamer and John Fippin calling the action alongside SCCA legends Tom O’ Gorman and Larry “Lefty” MacLeod, with pit reporter Heyward Wagner getting the inside scoop trackside.
The job of the announcers was a dream one, with the crew onsite from the picturesque 3.27-mile, 18-turn circuit in Alton, VA, during three Hagerty Race Days that boasted incredible racing weather. The track was dry, cool, and fast, leading to some of the most incredible races the Runoffs has seen in years.
Let’s revisit that for a moment. The co-Champions we talked about earlier? That came in Spec Miata in a race that began with a dramatic crash and ended with a two-car breakaway that even the officials struggled to decide. The front-to-back-to-front run? Super Touring® Under saw past pro racer Chip Herr put on a clinic of how to keep concentration even when, shall we say, the chips are down – but his was far from the only dramatic run in that one.
